Default Orion Starshoot II CCD

Anyone else using an Orion Starshoot II CCD with Hyperstar? My pictures are ok I guess but they are nothing compared to the rest of yours. Any tips?

Ozy and I made a lot of frustrating attempts to use a Meade DSI Pro II monochrome camera on an 11" Hyperstar. The hyperstar gives you this great field of view and then the tiny ccd on the DSI just kills it. Didn't help that we had to keep manually moving the filter bar either. We ended up getting a H9C and it's made a huge difference, tho we may still have some outstanding issues with the c11.

You've got the new hyperstar 3 on your c8, are you waiting for a qhy8?

Sorry I'm too new to this to offer up any tips. All I can do is ramble.

UD.

A QHY8 CCD is next on the list and I will keep the Orion Starshoot II for a guider sence I will also be adding a Tele Vue 101 as another imaging system some day. But yes the QHY8 will hopefully be coming within the new year. I prefer wide field imaging as you can tell. Eventually I would like to also get a C-14 with Hyperstar.

You wont regret the QHY8, best bit of kit I have purchased for a long time, and a noticable leap in my imaging quality (or is that "ability"?). Mix this with the Hyperstar, and the results are going to be stunning...

I know the QHY8 is now for sale, they were using it to test the Hyperstar 3 its a really nice camera. The QHY11 should be interesting.

You have the same setup as I do. I get great pix with it but alignment and focus is everything. The StarShoot needs some color adjustments after you stack the images. Also for the faint objects like IC2118 you will need to image in B&W. For a wider field of view I stitch images together after stacking. See my IC2118 itís 3 immages.
